Fjordbad

RATIO has developed an idea from a private initiator in Årdal municipality in the Sognefjord - the worlds longest fjord. The Fjord Bath is about the dream of swimming in the fjord - every day all summer, regardless of the weather. Located between steep mountains in an industrial village, the bath will also give the local community a new place to meet and socialize.

The Fjord Bath will give travelers to the village a new attraction. In the village where the fjord runs ashore, it will be possible to take a bath out of the ordinary. The most important thing, however, is to encourage the people who live in Årdal to see new opportunities in their own local community; a village bath where people can meet and which helps to activate an empty village center by the fjord.

The proposal is to place an indoor bathhouse with a swimming pool, children's pool, changing rooms and café in the park, Meieriparken. A floating bathing jetty is located in the fjord with two heated pools, diving tower, mobile sauna and sun terraces. It is proposed to develop a beach on the shore. An outdoor stage floor for concerts and other events is also located in the park.

The facility can be heated with surplus heat from industry in Årdal.

The park must be accessible to everyone. It is to be somewhere to go even if you are not going for a swim.
