The new building is located to the west of the current healthcare centre in Brønnøysund, with a new, common entrance area. Together with the existing building, the new building makes room for a new, larger vestibule which is visible on arrival. The expression of the new building with its coloured facade pattern is to increase visibility and emphasise the significance of the new feature on site. The DMS will contribute to a much larger number of visitors to the area.
The new public areas are shared between the new building and the existing one. It includes a new main entrance, lobby and an extension of the cafeteria to a gathering point for everyone near the main entrance. It also includes new vertical communication with common waiting areas on the upper floors of the building.
The building contains outpatient clinics, a new emergency ward, ambulance parking and support functions for pre-hospital services. The outpatient clinic generally has large treatment rooms with lots of daylight as well as a CT/x-ray unit and a treatment area for chemotherapy with preparation of cytostatics.
The project was executed under the auspices of Brønnøy Municipality as the owner in collaboration with Helgelandssykehuset as the main tenant. The building was completed in 2022.
